My Rant About Working

Don't you hate Monday mornings when it's time to drag yourself back into the office? No? That's just me? Oh, well let me rant.
I use to enjoy this thing we call working, but I guess that was perhaps before I got a "real job" in this here "real world." Most likely I don't enjoy because this is a "stepping stone" job. You know, one of those jobs that help you get to that place you want to be professionally? It just seems to take so much work to be a real worker in this society.

  • Who has time to be bringing stuff to these potlucks on Wednesday?
  • I don't want to have to speak to a coworker EACH time we see each other in the hallway?
  • Why do bosses ask "Do you want to...?" or "Would you mind doing...?," because if we say no and they get upset, it's really their fault. Don't give us options if we really don't have a choice.
  • Why do we have to wear this suit to sit in this office and look at each other? We need to get a summer dress code policy.
  • If I don't care how your weekend was and you don't care how my weekend was, can we just stop asking this question?
  • Is it possible that I can work the same hours as my boss? If I'm here before you get here and you leave sometimes before I do, that's not 40 hours.
What are some of the things you rant about? I can't be the only one with questions. Let me hear them! Since we talking about jobs, let us listen to Rose Royce "Car Wash"

  1. Why do is lunch only one hour? I think I should come back after I've relaxed and ate and digested this food. If I take lunch in my office do not come in and say, "I know you're on lunch but.." But nothing. I'm off the clock. I'm tired of idle conversations when we both know when you are walking back to your office you'll be thinking about how much time you wasted talking to me about your weekend. Who came up with the hours of 8-5 anyway? If you can email me about something don't call me. Don't email me telling me you called me. I have caller ID. *takes deep breath* Okay, I'm done. Praise the Jesus for my job in this time of bad economy and unemployment. :)

  2. Yesss!!!! I totally relate. At our age, the common situation that affects most if us is that none of us are really where we want to be.... Young people in this working real world usually have a jaded perception of what it will be like. I'm thankful for every opportunity I've been afforded but I have a long road ahead of me. Thanks for sharing this post!
